I feel like most of the statistics that tout the danger of #motorcycle riding come from the demographic of people who typically ride motorcycles: risk-takers. Either young hotshots who "pretend race" on the road, or old guys who have a propensity of riding drunk. If you ride with care, learn good technique, and make good decisions, the risks within your control are much less. The skill ceiling is pretty high and the learning curve is long, but that's what makes it worth it to me. :)
That said, the risks outside of your control (other people on the road, road conditions, etc.) are definitely more hazardous when riding a motorcycle than when you're driving a car. Gotta be on guard and plan accordingly when out there!

I was walking home yesterday along one of the major arterials (A) yesterday when I heard an ambulance siren also headed along arterial A toward where it has an intersection with arterial B. It waited at the intersection for a moment, then I heard a loud #Harley blasting down arterial B and saw it zip across the intersection at high speed.
This is another reason why I don't want to be associated with Harley culture. #motorcycle

Pretty sure there's a person here in north #Seattle who has an electric conversion of an old #Honda CBR. When I see them go by, all I hear is a nearly silent electrical whirr and the sound of the chain. #motorcycle

After learning how to ride a #motorcycle with a manual transmission, I lost interest in riding motorscooters because they weren't engaging. (The CVTs are too boring for me.) That's also why my next car will be stick shift.
